most of the irish ex-pats i've met are from southern ireland, but they almos ALL have dark hair/eyes--that's just my experience though. i've met a few from the north and liked all of them, both catholic & protestant.

not to doubt on your gramps, but i can ask some experts for corraboration on that--will get back to you on that.
